Freedom rant.....

My ideal world would be one in which all people were free to pursue and embrace their life, liberty and their own path of happiness beyond reproach from others provided they did not harm or remove rights from others to achieve this.  One where everyone was granted the same rights, derived not from an elected board of officials, a dictator or any other offical claiming the ability to grant what already exists, but from the natural state of existance; simply being born.

Thier rights would not be infringed upon so that someone else could be granted their rights or some part thereof. Their rights would not be subject to some other person or group of people and would not be reduced so that another group would gain.

The government in place for this would have a few, well defined mandates demanded by the citizenry.  It should be empowered to do the following:

1 - Protect the nation's borders from foreign "enemies" as well as those seeking to derive property and liberty without exchange of labor, at the expense of those citizens here by legal means
2 - Uphold the Constitution written for the express purpose of protecting the rights of its citizens
3 - Provide an enforcement mechanism to do so based on a set of laws laid down
4 - Provide a system of courts with the express instructions of ensuring justice was done in reference to the Constitution

It would not do, be allowed or find itself driven to prepare Acts or legislation that in any way circumvent or preempt the Constituion.

* It would not subjugate sucess or reward failure.

* It would not grant additional rights to some to attempt to correct a failure of equality of others.

* It would not impose an ideal of charity.

* It would not through levy of tax or other fee attempt social engineering of any kind.

* It would avoid systems where wealth could seek to buy or impeed justice and or judicial rule.

* It would avoid all systems where programs, laws and Acts would be convoluted and abused to garner support from one group as in a voting block or to pay for unseen favor.

* It would be granted the ability to level one and only one tax: and end user tax, the Fairtax would be the best known example.

* It would limit all terms of office to a span no more than two units whether consecutive or seperated.

* It would provide no subsidies towards any one group, business or sector.

I imagine I could go on for some time but it is my feeling that in this world such as this, the lowest common denominator would not bring down the group, they would be lifted up by the whole. We would re-learn that charity is local. Helping each other, kindness and prosperity could be shared when not mandated by law, removed by force and redistributed based on some desk jockey 1000 miles from the root of the problem.

If the system failed, at least people were free to do so.
